Trafalgar Square
Trafalgar Square was named after the famous battle won by Admiral Nelson at Trafalgar when Britain was at war with Napoleon in 1805.
But did you know that it was named by Muslim explorers? Trafalgar, off the coast of Spain, got its name from Taraf al-Ghar, a cape off Southern Spain named by Muslim geographers.
Nelson's Column, four huge bronze lion sculptures and the energetic water fountains, Trafalgar Square is an unmissable Central Lndon landmark.
There is plenty of room to sit in Trafalgar Square and there is often some form of demonstration (political) or entertainment throughout the year.
